Our Mission
The Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement and enrichment of educational opportunities for the young people of West Iron County.
Our Goal
The Foundation’s goal is to generate private support that will help upgrade resources and materials and provide programs which enhance and enrich educational opportunities of West Iron County students.
"The real benefit of the Foundation is that it augments or supports education for all students, not just those who are going on to college." ~ Robert Johnson, founding member of the Foundation
Even with the state aid received by West Iron County Public Schools and the funds collected through property taxes, there are still some aspects of a well-rounded education that cannot be provided through the general operating budget. The Foundation for Educational Opportunity at West Iron County Schools was formed by a board of directors in July of 1994 for the purpose of addressing this problem.
West Iron students have a great work ethic, but they also need experience with the latest technology, appropriate facilities, access to current research, the support of current methodology, and scholarships to recognize outstanding achievement.
The Foundation centers its activities on supplying mini-grants for innovative classroom work, scholarship grants, and support for programs in such areas as technology, library services, performing arts, and field experiences. The Foundation also underwrites "Windsor 2000," a long-term project dedicated to renovating and refurbishing the Windsor Auditorium.
